Stratford is located in Newham, East of London.  Historically Stratford was an agrarian settlement within Essex however was transformed into an industrial suburb in 1839 following the introduction of the railway.

During the late 20^th century the area was in severe economic decline, however fortunately due to the regeneration associated with the 2012  Summer Olympics which was hosted in Stratford Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Stratford is now East London’s main retail leisure center.  The Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park is now home to West Ham F.C football stadium.
